Our Architects’ Philosophy on Lifelong Learning

Hunt & Caraway Architects values the concept of lifelong learning and conscientiously ensures that this concept is structurally and creatively integrated into its educational facility designs. Although this notion wears many hats and bears many definitions, the H&C staff assert that it boasts multi-faceted knowledge which encompasses culture, the arts, science, technical skills, vocational goals, and the mentality that it is never too late to learn something new; but rather it is always beneficial to continue learning about a subject, even if the person is already noted as an “expert” in the field. Because of our adherence to lifelong learning, we actively practice this lifestyle by having continual staff training and development sessions on topics from soft skills training to time management to working on a team to the latest computer programs and building materials.

Our Architects’ Philosophy on Cross-Training™

Another significant concept that Hunt & Caraway Architects integrates into its daily activities is that of cross-training. Much like lifelong learning, this notion emphasizes the continual benefit of acquiring knowledge and expertise in an area, especially as new research is conducted in the industry. But also takes it one step further by showing the importance of teaching one another. H&C is not designed to be a strict hierarchy but rather values people as individuals with their own experiences, ideas, and intelligence that have the ability to aid each other in a variety of intellectual and creative ways. The president of the firm can learn just as much from the receptionist as a drafter can learn from the construction administrator, and so on. By realizing the importance of working on a team and drawing from a community of people, the staff of Hunt & Caraway Architects is continuously honing their skills while simultaneously being a mentor and a mentee. This is the concept of cross-training which produces exceptional fruits in designing a building that celebrates creativity and diversity.
